Why "Momus"?

A café named after an opera, a logo drawn in the spirit of Picasso, and a team that's proud of every plate.

The name

The café in La Bohème

In Puccini's opera, there's a café in the Latin Quarter of Paris where the bohemians gather — poets, painters and philosophers arguing about art over wine they can barely afford. That café is called Momus, after the Greek god of wit and good company. It is loud, warm, generous, and nobody is ever in a hurry to leave.

When we opened in Tirana in July 2020, that was exactly the room we wanted to build: not just somewhere for good coffee, but a place where the whole city comes together.

The identity

A face in the spirit of Picasso

Our logo is a friendly, innovative emblem — a face built from the fragmented forms and confident lines of a Pablo Picasso portrait. The mark reflects the strong but casual character of the people we serve: direct, modern, a little playful.

That single emblem became the thread running through everything — the cups, the aprons, the menus, the packaging — carefully balanced across the whole brand.

Founded in 2020 by Besmir Masha, Café Momus set out to be the new café & bistro for a young, curious Tirana — a simple, generous place with excellent coffee and a kitchen that punches well above its price.

It worked. Today Café Momus is one of the highest-rated cafés in all of Tirana — 4.9 out of 5 across more than 800 reviews on Google and TripAdvisor, and the number keeps climbing. We're proud of that, because it isn't a marketing line — it's what hundreds of guests, locals and travelers alike, chose to write about their morning here. Our kitchen leans Italian and Mediterranean, our brunch runs from 7 AM, and our pastry case changes daily.

Who's behind it

Momus is run by a small team that takes the food personally:

What we care about

Fresh, every day. Vegetables from the market, fish from the Adriatic coast, pasta made properly. A large part of our menu is vegetarian because good produce deserves the spotlight.

Everyone's café. Breakfast regulars, remote workers, tourists with backpacks, grandmothers with strong opinions about coffee — the room belongs to all of them, from 7 AM until 23:30.

Hospitality first. The dishes bring people in; the people bring them back. It's why the reviews so often mention our staff by name.
